In pics: GB team's celebrations on their way to London from Rio in gold-nosed British Airways plane
Members of the Great Britain's team, which secured second place in the Olympic medal table at the Rio Olympics, were treated to a first-class ticket home from Rio to London. They also received a grand welcome at the Heathrow airport.

A total of 320 athletes and support staff travelled back from Rio in a gold-nosed British Airways Boeing 747 with 'victoRIOus' emblazoned on the side.

Britain's Olympic heroes triumphantly arrived home on the plane, with 77 champagne bottles on board and a stirring rendition on the National Anthem before take-off. It was a total carnival atmosphere on board, with athletes enjoying their victory and taking selfies with the flight crew, showing-off their medals.

The welcome accorded to the heroes after their arrived at the airport terminal at 9.50am in the morning was incredible. The national anthem was sung loudly and proudly again upon arrival.

The team GB got 67 medals in total, out of which 27 are gold, 23 silver and 17 bronze. GB have also smashed their pre-Games target of at least 48 medals, which was set by UK Sport.

Though China got 70 medals, three more than GB, but could not make up to the second position, as GB are ahead on golds, which is what the rankings are based on.
