Income Tax department's remark 'Hinduism is not a religion' upsets Hindus
Hindus are upset at recent reported order of an Income Tax Tribunal in Maharashtra that 'Hinduism is neither a religion nor Hindus form a religious community'.

Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that it was a bizarre, inappropriate and shocking statement. Any standard encyclopedia would tell you that Hinduism was the oldest and third largest religion of the world, Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, stressed.

Zed further said that this statement was belittling of about one billion strong Hindu community spread worldwide.

Zed asked India's Finance Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram and India’s Revenue Secretary Sumit Bose to publicly apologise and clarify this disturbing statement of their Income Tax Department whose mission included "To deliver quality services".

In true sense, from the point of view of west that how they are viewing religions like Christianity and Islam, Hinduism need not be categorized as a religion. It is way of life...it is a cultural, national and spiritual practice......Unlike other religions it has no a particular GOD or a particular SCRIPTURE....or a particular RELIGIOUS PRACTICE. It is difficult for the west to understand what is Hinduism ?
