DELHI TRAFFIC police has done well by increasing maximum speed-limit for cars on Delhi roads to 60 kmph from the earlier 50 kmph. Earlier speed-limit of 50 kmph was unfit for present new-tech car-engines when 60 kms per hour is the appropriate speed required to run car at least in fourth gear (one lower than top fifth gear). Car-drivers following strictly 50 kms per hour speed-limit used to face repeated horns and strictures from others on road. At times such unpractical low speed-limit of 50 kms per hour rather became accident-prone for road-traffic.
But the speed-limit of 60 kmph which is now for selected roads should be uniform except for roads like DND flyover where it is already set higher at 80 kmph. Having dual speed-limit of 50 and 60 kmph will create unnecessary confusion and undue harassment of motorists because of increased number of challans on roads where it is still kept at 50 kmph.
