ON APRIL 6 2010, in a Maoist attack at least 76 CRPF and district force personnel were killed, when a large group of Naxals ambushed them in the forests of Chattisgarh's Dantewada district. A deputy and an assistant commandant along with a head constable of the district police force were among those 76 killed. Our government announced compensation of one lakh to the dead jawans. On January 15 2011, at least 104 Sabarimalla devotees were killed and over 40 injured in a stampede when a jeep crashed into homebound pilgrims at Pulmedu in Kerala's Idukki district.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi expressed deep shock and passed their condolences to families of those who got killed. The Prime Minister sanctioned an ex-gratia of Rupees One Lakh for the families of each of the deceased, in order to pay deep-hearted condolences.
On May 9 2009, RK Tandon along with his wife Sunita and two pugs named Jimmy and Batnu travelled via Jet Airways flight from Mumbai to Delhi. Upon their arrival in Delhi the couple was informed that their beloved pugs died during the flight journey. The couple in deep shock and remorse filed a complaint against Jet Airways. On July 19 2011, District Consumer Forum Delhi passed a verdict saying "The death of two pugs is great material and emotional set back and loss to the consumer, who is animal friendly." The verdict held the airlines responsible for the death of the pugs and has been asked to pay Rupees 1.44 Lakh as compensation to the owner of the pets for causing them 'mental agony.' The pug owners want to get the responsible Jet Airways crew member punished for the deaths.
They now are planning to file an FIR against Jet Airways. I would like to question the judiciary bodies and government - that has the value of life of a human being degraded in India? Why such a drastic difference in the compensation level for a death of a human and that of an animal? I myself am an animal lover and don't intend to hurt anybody's feelings but still would want to know why the government authorities themselves being human can't understand the amount of the loss and pain and grief when a human dies?
Dead bodies of our jawans who were killed in sometime during May 2011 in a terrorist attack in Chattisgarh were brought to the camp in a garbage carrying truck. This is the height of shamelessness on the part of the rulers. I think we don't need any enemy country to insult or disrespect to the martyrs our country is full of those creatures. To what level we have degraded ourselves that we are more touched on death of pets than shaheeds who have sacrificed their lives for nation. This is the lowest level of homage paid which arises the disgusting taste just by thinking on it.
