The conference co-chaired by US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton and Union Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal opened up new avenues in what they termed as a ‘historic’ meeting that will not only expand opportunities for students from both the countries but will also open new challenges for India.
Sibal in the meeting said that India intends to sponsor 1,500 faculties and junior scholars to the topmost universities in the United States for research and value added purposes. He also said that India also has plans for setting up pro India-US education platform meant for channelizing education through exchange programs and educator enrichment practices, which will eventually lead to sprucing up human resources in both the countries.
Both India and the United States looked sportive of introducing reps from the government, academia, and businesses who would keep the students apprised on a periodic basis.
The news is quite interesting, We need to learn many things from US, The first and foremost is red tapism, Our researcher has more strength than their US counter part. But they are handicapped because of the bureaucracy and red tape. In US if one researcher requires an equipment her gets it at the shortest possible time. But here he will get it after years of toiling and wait. Our illiterate bureaucrats does not understand what is research and tries to equate it like theirs working only 6 Hours. Again in US visa office unqualified staffs questions and reject visa,s to our students on flimsy ground even though the student has got clearance from the concerned University and I20 issued. Both US and India should form a joint review committee for this hapless students. Else let India allow US universities to open overseas branches with no reservation facilities to enable brilliant Indian students to continue their pursuit.
