India celebrates Navy Day, President Kovind and PM Modi greet nation
Each year, Navy Day is observed on 4th of December to celebrate the achievements the naval force in guarding the seas and the nation. The day marks pride on the bravery of the Indian Navy that resulted in winning the Indo-Pak war of 1971.

It was a rare achievement of our naval forces to carry out successful mission of 'Operation Trident' in attacking Pakistan's Karachi naval base on December 4, 1971 and cause a heavy damage to the port.

Both, the President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the Indian Navy personnel. President Kovind said that the nation was proud of navy personnel for their commitment to protect the maritime frontiers, secure our trade routes, and provide assistance in times of humanitarian emergencies.

"On Navy Day, my good wishes to all men and women of the Indian Navy. Nation is proud of your commitment to protecting our maritime frontiers, securing our trade routes, and providing assistance in times of humanitarian emergencies #PresidentKovind," he stated.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while greeting Indian Navy personnel and their families on Navy Day, stated "Navy Day greetings to all valorous personnel of the Indian Navy and their families. India is grateful to our Navy for protecting the nation and the commendable role the Navy plays during disaster relief."

In Mumbai, Indian Navy put up an impressive show at the Gateway of India. Highlight of the vent was that a Navy helicopter flew past the monument to light it up the with national flag colours. The navy soldiers marched with tunes of a band to showcase the Beating of the Retreat ceremony watched by the residents of Mumbai.
