An external affairs ministry spokesman on Tuesday said that the media report that mentioned of a border skirmish with China in which two Indian soldiers injured in firing by Chinese troops is factually incorrect.
THE GOVERNMENT on Tuesday (September 15), denied reports of a border skirmish with China in which two Indian soldiers were reportedly injured in firing by Chinese troops. An external affairs ministry spokesman on Tuesday said that the media report that mentioned the incident is factually incorrect.
Denying the incident, the spokesman said that report about two ITBP personnel getting injured due to firing from across the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Sikkim was not based on facts.
Latest reports said that Chinese government has also denied the report and said that there has been no such incident of border firing.
The report in a leading English daily had said that Chinese troops had fired upon their Indian counterparts in Kerang region of northern Sikkim a fortnight ago. The report was claimed to be based on inputs given by a top intelligence source and said that the incident was kept under wraps due to sensitive nature.
Off late, reports of Chinese incursions on borders has created anxiety in the country with many fearing the aggressive tactics of India's giant neighbour. Authorities, meanwhile, have discounted the reports about these incursions and downplayed these charges as they want to keep down the temperature between the two countries.
