India embarrassed by an innings defeat, Sachin misses century
Australia defeated India by an innings and 68 runs in the SCG, thus taking an unassailable lead in the series. The Indians can, at the most think of leveling the series, whereas Australia would go for a series whitewash.

IT IS India’s sixth successive loss in away matches. First it was England who thrashed India 4-0, in the last English tour and Australia also seems to be on the same lines eager for a series whitewash, after their victory in the second Test match at SCG. India suffered a heavy defeat, by an innings and 68 runs. It was embarrassing for the Indian team, as they lost their match on the fourth day itself. Though, it was just a matter of time, after the Australians had batted Indians out of the game.

When the fourth days play began to take shape, the Indians looked good with Sachin and Gambhir looking positive and scoring runs too. After the fall of Gambhir’s wicket, VVS laxman walked to the crease and came up with a good innings, as they headed to the lunch break with only 1 wicket lost in the first session of the day. Tendulkar was batting superbly; hence, there were many experts who were saying that it could be the Little Master’s day to score his much awaited century. One former English cricketer, Tony Grieg even tweeted, “Sachin is playing superbly this will be the day - 100 International centuries, unbelievable”.

It was a major disappointment for India during the post lunch session, as Sachin lost his wicket followed by the rest of the Indian players. They fell like nine pins. When Tendulkar was out, the score read 271 for the loss of four wickets, after which the Indian team later bundled out for a score of 400 runs, which is not a bad score, had it not been for their below par score in the first innings. Ben Hilfenhaus was the pick of the Australian bowlers as he picked up 5 wickets in the innings.

Though, the Indian team showed some fighting spirit, but their chips were already down. They had nothing to play for except their personal record. Hence, Zaheer Khan threw his bat around and scored a quick fire 35. Ashwin played a gritty knock of 62 runs, but, it was not enough for the Indians who lost the match, even before the tail enders had strolled into bat.

The Indian team failed in all departments of the game. So, we might see some replacements in the Third test match to be played at Perth. Most probably, we might see Virat Kohli replaced by Rohit Sharma, as Kohli has failed to impress in whatever chances he had got. On social networking sites like business</a>/twitter" id="highlight">Twitter, there have been numerous comments and tweets, which suggest that Rohit should be given a chance. Rohit could be a good bet, as he has the technique and the temperament to deal with the Aussies.
