India expresses grief as Pakistani prisoner Sanaullah Haq dies
Pakistani prisoner Sanaullah Haq, who was serving life term in a Jammu jail on various terror charges, died in PGIMER hospital in Chandigarh after he failed to recover from the grievous injuries he suffered in a clash with an Indian inmate.

India's minister of state for foreign affairs Preneet Kaur while expressing grief over the death of Haq said that the Indian government did its best to treat the died Pakistani prisoner. Spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs Syed Akbaruddin said, "We tried to take all necessary measures to save Sanaullah. In touch with the Pakistan authorities. Will make all arrangements to facilitate handing over the body. Waiting for the details of the flight which will come from Pakistan."

The chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah has expressed his grief on the demise of Sanaullah and also offered his apology to the family of the Pakistani prisoner. He tweeted, “Although it's scant consolation I'd like to offer a sincere apology to the family of Sanaullah Haq & my sympathies for their loss.”

Dalbir Kaur, sister of Sarabjit Singh also expressed sorrow on the death of Sanaullah. Notably Sarabjit Singh had died in Pakistan after he was attacked by a group of Pakistani prisioners and suffered very deep injuries on his head.

Sanaullah Haq's body will be given to his family members namely brother-in-law Mohammed Sehzaad and nephew Mohammed Asif who are already in India to visit Haq. The Indian authorities will hand over the body once the autopsy and other legal formalities are done. The Indian government has granted permission to a special flight from Pakistan to Chandigarh to take back mortal remains of Sanaullah Haq.

According to the Pakistan High Commission in India, Sanaullah Haq's body will be taken to Lahore or Sialkot from Chandigarh. Officials from Pakistani High Commission will be in the special plane that will take the body back in Pakistan.

Haq, who hails from Sialkot in Pakistan, became very critical after both of his kidneys failed and neurological problems surfaced. He was arrested in the year 1999 and awarded life imprisonment under TADA. Interestingly, Pakistani authorities are imitating every step the Indian government took for its citizen Sarabjit Singh.
