India internet users to reach 600 million in the next 5 years
India would have as many as 600 million internet users in the next 5 years. They are presently ranked third after China and the US.
IN THE next four to five years, India could probably be rated number one as the largest Internet using country in the world, which many people around the country would never have thought of. 
At present, India is said to comprise of more than 100 million (September figures) internet users and the figures are expected to increase at a rapid rate. India at present lies third as the largest international market is concerned. Per month, India witnesses a rise of around 5-7 million new users. If it grows on a similar scale, India would beat US in the next two years in terms of internet population. China’s population stands at 485 million with the US comprising up of 245 million users. The Indian government expects the Indian internet population to reach 600 million in the next five years or so.
If this is the case, online business would also see an upsurge in the coming years in India too, which could make the market even bigger. The internet growth can also be attributed to smaller towns in India, which also has been catching up with it on a larger scale too.
So next time, you plan to walk in a cyber cafe, you must be prepared to stay in the queue for long hours as there are still a large number of people who use cyber cafes to use internet. But the youths of today are so hooked onto the internet that they even use their mobile phones to browse into the web.
