July 25, 2016: Spiritual leader Dalai Lama today, said that India is the only country where all major old rich traditions live together besides the home grown traditions and religions which projects serious religious harmony.

Addressing a gathering in Leh area in Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir state, Dalai Lama said that humanity on the planet is facing lots of problems including killings and in logical terms he called these problems man-made which cannot be solved through prayers but can be reduced by efforts through action.

He said that promotion of humanity and religious harmony is his commitment and expressed admiration for the rich harmony that exists in Ladakh between Buddhist and Muslim communities. He urged all the religious heads to maintain it as he makes a mention of it everywhere.

Dalai Lama stressed upon every individual to contribute in ensuring peaceful humanity which he said can be attained only through inner peace. Logically world peace comes through inner peace and warm heartedness is the key factor for compassion and inner peace which can be achieved through education, advocated Dalai Lama.

He shared that even scientists today find compassion as the basic human nature and emphasised on strengthening the education system based on inner values and moral ethics without religious biases rather than material and physical values. He mentioned about the education curriculum draft on secular ethics from kindergarten till university level and advised to introduce it in Ladakh's education system once it get finalise towards the end of this year. The curriculum is drafted to fit in a secular education system which can be followed by any religion to develop inner peace from childhood, he said.

He stressed on the need to study to understand religion than just doing prayers and said that his purpose of visiting Leh is to promote monasteries as an academic institution based on Nalanda education system by having a religion subject teacher called stadub-lobon.
