India joins world community to observe 70th anniversary of United Nations
On the occasion of United Nations Day being observed on October 24, UN chief Ban Ki-moon in his message said, "The United Nations works for the entire human family of seven billion people, and cares for the earth, our one and only home."

"The world faces many crises, and the limits of collective international action are painfully clear. Yet no single country or organization can address today's challenges alone," he added.

The UN has asked its agencies and the world community that to mark 70th anniversary of the UN, various monuments and buildings across the world should be illuminated in blue.

The Government of India has asked its various departments and all embassies and High Commissions across the world to fly United Nations flag along with the national flag to mark the United Nations Day.

The directive says that the UN flag is, however, not flown on Rashtrapati Bhawan, Vice-President's House, Parliament House and the Supreme Court building.
