India loses ODI series against England after their tied match
The Indian team lost the ODI series as the fourth ODI between India and England were tied at London through the Duckworth Lewis method. It was one of those rare occasions where India put up a decent performance against England during this tour.
THE INDIAN team put up a better display on the field during the fourth ODI, but could only manage to tie the match at London. The rain interrupted match came to an interesting end, as the match was tied with the help of the Duckworth Lewis method. Hence, England won the series with only a single ODI to be played on September 16 at Cardiff. The English team leads the series 2-0.

The Indian team put up a good score on the board, as MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina played a stroke full innings of more than 70 runs each. . Dhoni scored 78 runs, where he hit 6 boundaries and 3 sixes. Suresh Raina top scored for India with 84 runs, which included 7 fours and 2 sixes. They put up a score of 280 – 5 on the board. Still, the target seemed to be on the lower side for the Indian team to register their first victory of the tour.  Many Indian batsmen such as Parthiv Patel, A Rahane had good start but they could not help themselves in building up a good individual score.

While chasing the Indian score of 280 runs, the Indian team bowled well as England’s first two wickets fell for just 27 runs. The Indians seemed to be on their way for the first victory of the tour. Ian Bell and Ravi Bopara had other plans as they began to rebuild England’s innings. Ian Bell fell for 54 runs but his partnership with Bopara had put the English team in a good shape to challenge the Indian score. The score read 159 runs for four wickets, when Bell was dismissed.

During the final overs of the game, the rains came to the party, and the match was decided on Duckworth Lewis method, which saw the game tied. The last two English batsmen fell when their score was 270 runs. Had either one of the batsmen stayed on the crease without losing their wicket; they would have won the match through Duckworth Lewis method. It was India’s luck that the wickets fell on succession; hence the game resulted in a tie.
