India also summoned Pakistan's High Commissioner to India Salman Bashir to register a strong protest against what it called a “barbaric” incident. A meeting took place between Bashir and foreign secretary Ranjan Mathai about the entire episode, which lasted for around half an hour, where Mithai said that the attack was unacceptable.
Sharma also showed disappointment over granting visa to Javed Miandad. “Granting visa to Miandad sends a wrong signal.” Pertinent to mention Miandad’s son is married to one of India's most wanted men, Dawood Ibrahim.
Pakistan, on the other hand has said that the act hasn’t been carried out by their soldiers and called for an investigation to be conducted by United Nation’s Military Operations Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to clear the “misconceptions”. But India has not accepted the offer as it views Kashmir as its integral part even though the UN group is stationed in Srinagar.
