A match called off between India and Australia on Monday has led to even lesser chances that the country would reach semi finals. India now is under immense pressure and would have to beat West Indies by a considerable margin on Wednesday.
AFTER SUFFERING a miserable defeat against Pakistan, India's lone chance to survive in the Champions Trophy was a win against Australia but thier semi final chances got even bleaker on Monday as relentless rains caused the match to be called off prematurely.
The result was that that they had to split points with Australia in their Group A match. India now is under immense pressure and would have to beat West Indies by a considerable margin on Wednesday. If that was not all, they would also have to just sit with their fingers crossed, hoping that Pakistan beats Australia by just as hefty a margin.
Pakistan has got a green signal for semi finals after Monday.
The Australians were doing well at 234 runs for four in 42.3 overs and chances for them looked good when the rains lashed down, and refused to stop. The stadium looked like a mini pond as lightening stuck one of the towers.
