India outplay Proteas in Durban test, level series!
The second test at Durban turned out to be an extraordinary test with fortune fluctuating from one team to the other, but eventually it was India who emerged victorious.
IT IS not just a fluke that team India has earned the tag of number one test team in the world on sheer merit and continuous performance over a time and with the win at Durban it is authenticated. The Indian team's position stands  vindicated as they crushed the Proteas in their backyard against all odds to level the series 1-1 before going into the third and final test in the New Year.

After a humiliating defeat by an inning and 25 runs in the first test match at Centurion, who would have thought of such a turn around by the Indians on the most bounciest wicket in South Africa. But, MS Dhoni’s band of warriors has proved that it has the ability to beat any side in the world anywhere in any given condition.

The inspired Indian team put up a spirited performance to drub South Africa with a sensational 87-run victory on Wednesday, (Decemebr 29). On the Durban wicket the target of 303 runs was always going to be tough and the Indian bowlers with a disciplined show didn’t squander away the opportunity. The hosts were dismissed for 215 in 72.3 overs and India won comprehensively by 87 runs.

This is India’s first ever test victory at Durban and for Proteas it is the third consecutive loss at this venue. This happens to be India’s overall second test triumph on South African soil. Now, the series hangs in balance and the third test will decide the fate of the series.

The second test at Durban turned out to be an extraordinary test with fortune fluctuating from one team to the other, but eventually it was India who emerged victorious. Full credit should go to the man of crisis, VVS Laxman, who played a gem of an inning to guide India to a safer zone and deservedly won ‘Man of the Match’ award.

However, credit must also be be given to the Indian bowlers, who were down and out in the first test, but with the return of Zaheer Khan they suddenly turned into a potent brigade. S Sreesanth (3/45), Zaheer Khan (3/53) and Harbhajan Singh (2/70) were the pick of the bowlers for India in the second innings while Ashwell Prince was the top scorer for the South Africans with an unbeaten 39.

After losing the toss and once again put into bat, nobody gave Indians a chance- and after being dismissed for 205 in the first innings it seemed that the predictions were true. However, the Indian bowlers turned the tide by dismissing the hosts for paltry 131 and brought the visitors back strongly into the series. From there on, it was a splendid display of cricket skills where Indians emerged victorious justifying their number one status. Well done India!
