TOP INDIAN and Pakistani diplomats will hold key talks in Islamabad on Thursday to restart the dialogue process between the two countires, which could set the pace for a lasting solution to various issues between the two countries. Peace talks between the two warring nations have largely been put on hold since the Mumbai terror attacks that took place in November 2008. India had blamed Pakistan based terror group Lashar-e-Taiba for the attacks. Over 170 people had lost their lives in the planned terrorist attack. Since then, India had regularly rebuked Pakistani calls for expanding their peace and confidence building measures.

Meanwhile, Nirupama Rao stated that India will highlight the need for taking some “credible actions” as per the evidence and dossier that the Indian government had provided the Pakistani government over the Mumbai attacks. So far, Pakistani government has charged 7 people who were found guilty of conspiring and indulging in terrorist activities.

Pakistani spokesman Abdul Basit told media persons that, “ Pakistan looks forward for a sustained, meaningful and uninterrupted engagement with India to discuss and resolve all outstanding issues.”
