A GREATFUL nation paid homage to late Prime Minister India Gandhi on her 92nd birth anniversary. Tributes were paid at Shakti Sthal, her memorial at Yamuna river in Delhi and a remembrance ceremony was also organised in her honour.
Indira was born in the Nehru family and she became the Prime Minister of India four times, until her assassination in 1984.
A number of political leaders visited Shakti Sthal to pay homage to late Indira Gandhi, who was the first and only lady prime minister of India. Paying tribute to her, union minister Krishna Tirath said that on this day all of us should pledge to empower every women in the country.
On this day, a number of cultural programmes are being organised by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA). Throughout the country a number of programmes are being organised to pay tributes to one the of tallest political leaders ever produced in post-independence India.
