India, Russia to develop 600-km range Brahmos missiles capable of covering entire Pakistan
As India strategically wants to boost its military capabilities, it is taking several steps towards the same. And in a new development, New Delhi has decided to work with Moscow in a bid to jointly develop a new generation of Brahmos missiles with 600-km-plus range.

The missiles will have an unique ability to hit targeted areas with pinpoint accuracy. The development is a result of India joining the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR).

Reportedly, this range allows missiles to hit anywhere within Pakistan. The MTCR's guidelines don't allow member nations outside the club to transfer, sale or joint production of missiles beyond 300-km range with nations.

As of now, the range of Brahmos missiles is just 300 km. Thus, it is difficult to hit targets deep inside Pakistan. India already has ballistic missiles with the range longer than the next generation Brahmos. But, what makes the latter even more special and a potential game changer in case of a conflict, is its ability to strike specific targets, even well-protected ones.

Signed during the bilateral summit at Goa, the Indo-Russian agreement also includes development of missiles with smaller range. These missiles can be fired from submarines and aircraft.
