India looks set to make a big score in the final match of the tri-series Compaq Cup against Sri Lanka. While Sachin Tendulkar has achieved his century, India is playing at 205/2.
INDIA HAS set the stage for a big score after winning the toss and electing to bat in the final of tri-series Compaq Cup at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Monday (Sept 14). After thirty seven overs, the score read 206 for the loss of two wicket of Dravid and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, former fell to Sanath Jayasuriya's spin after giving the India the start it desperately needed.
Earlier, India was off to a solid start as both Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar batted well to take India to 95 runs, when Dravid fell in the 18th over at the individual score of 39. Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni came next and joined Tendulkar, who has made his century as he batted masterfully with a mix of exuberance and caution.Dhoni has quickly reached 56, before he was caught out as the score read 205 for 2.
Both batsmen looked to consolidate the innings and allow big hitters like Yuvraj Singh and Yusuf Pathan to show their wares. In the last group match on Saturday, the batting had failed to click with Indians falling against the disciplined Lankan attack.The Indians will be looking forward to set up a big target in view of the in form Sri Lankan batting, which pulverised the bowlers in the last group match. Indian batsmen had also caved in easily in the match and the team lost by 139 runs.
