STEPPING UP their defence prowesses, India on Thursday morning successfully test fired the surface to surface Prahar missile developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation. The test took place at the Balasore at the Integrated Test Range.
The Prahar missile with a range of 150 kilometres was launched at 8:15 am and was loaded with solid propellants from the Launch Complex 3 of ITR in Chandipur of Balasore district. The success was announced by a DRDO scientist associated with the launch.
Similar to the Pinaka missile, the Prahar missle too features a multiple rocket system and numerous such missiles can be shot in one go. However, during the test conducted on Thursday morning, one such missile was test fired.
The Prahar missile, it is being said that will be used by the Indian Army and will try to bridge the gap between the multi barrel missile carrier Pinaka. The Pinaka comes with a range of 45 kilometres and the Prithvi missile can destroy targets at a distance of 250 kilometres to 350 kilometres.
