India to host 2011 Champions Trophy
This decision was taken by the FIH after being impressed by the Hero Honda World Cup which was held in Delhi earlier this year in March.

AFTER THE Commonwealth Games in 2010, sports fans in India have got another reason to rejoice as the International Hockey Federation (FIH) chose to hold the Champions trophy 2011 in New Delhi while  women's event will be held in the Netherlands. The event was first held in Chennai in 1996 and again in 2005. The exact dates for the matches and the venues will be decided in a week's time.
 
FIH's communication manager Arjen Meijer conveyed this message in a press release today. The statement said, “ After the success of the Hero Honda FIH World Cup in March this year, the FIH has decided to return to India in 2011. Olympic and World Champion Netherlands will host the women’s FIH Champions Trophy next year, with the tournament being completed by the end of June 2011”.
 
This decision was taken by the FIH after being impressed by the Hero Honda World Cup which was held in Delhi earlier this year in March.
 
The Netherlands will be entitled to host the women's hockey championship trophy 2011. Being Olympic and World Champion Netherlands will host this event for the sixth time.
 
This year's championship trophy will be held in Germany for women while England has already started its campaign for men's championship. Other team's who will be giving England company are Spain, Germany, New Zealand, Holland and defending champions Australia.
