AUSTRALIA BEAT India by 24 runs in the 4th ODI at Mohali, to level the seven match India Australia series 2009, 2-2.

Man of the Match, Shane Watson(3-29 and 49 runs) and Doug Bollinger (3-35)were the key palyers who played a major role in Australia’s victory.

With this loss, India once again lost the chance of toping the top spot in the ICC rankings, whereas the win helped Australia retain the number one ODI team tag intact.

India were given a modest 251 run target on a batting friendly pitch and though India got to a great start with Virendar Sehwag (30 off 19 balls) they failed to get the partnerships going.

The little master, Sachin Tendulkar had a chance of reaching the milestone of 17000 runs but was wrongly given out and fell short of the record by 7 runs.

India lost wickets at regular intervals and were left at 177/7 before 40th over to leave the team in a fix. Once again Harbhajan Singh and Praveen Kumar tried their level best to turn things around and they did succeed to an extent. But it was not enough and in the end India lost the match by 24 runs.

With the series levelled at 2-2, the 5th ODI will surely be very important for both teams to go 3-2 up.
