India failed to capitalise against Sri Lanka on the second day of the test match and the inning folded at 426 runs on Tuesday morning. Rahul Darvid fell without adding anything to his overnight total of 177.
WITH RAHUL Dravid failing to add any thing to his overnight score of 177, the Indian team failed to capitalise on the first day's heroics against Sri Lanka during the first test match being played at Motera in Ahmedabad.
Indian inning folded up at 426 runs in 104.5 on Tuesday morning after Harbhajan Singh and Zahir Khan made small contributions with the bat. Rahul Dravid's wicket was claimed by Chanaka Welegedara, who was also the chief tormentor on first day of the test. It was expected that Rahul Dravid will complete a fine double century today but he dragged a Welegedera ball to the stumps from outside of the good length and went back at 177. Harbhajan hit some good shots and also registered his name in cricket records by becoming an all-rounder, who has 1500 runs and 300 wickets to his name in test cricket.
Dravid's fall brought fast bowler Zaheer Khan to the crease and he made 12 runs, before falling leg before wicket to Rangana Herath. Harbhajan Singh (22) was next claimed by ace spinner Mutthaiah Murlitharan, who also got Ishant Sharma stumped by the wicketkeeper thus finishing the Indian tail.
