India wins final test match against Sri Lanka, levels series
The chase in the second innings was well scripted with Laxman joining hands with Sachin Tendulkar. Following Sachin's untimely exit, the rest of the inning was well handled by Laxman, who was helped by Raina.

INDIA HAS won the last and final test match against Sri Lanka powered by a brilliant century by the evergreen VVS Laxman in the second innings. Sachin Tendulkar and Suresh Raina also played brilliantly to help India win the test match being played in Colombo, which also ensured that the series was levelled one each.

India won the match by 5 wickets, with VVS Laxman standing strong at 103 and Suresh Raina not out at 41. India won in style with Raina hitting the winning shot for a huge six. This defeat is Sri Lanka's third test loss on home turf in the last six years.

Sri Lankan captain Sangakarra tried to block the available options for India that also included heavily stacking the onside field for both right handed batsmen.

For Raina and VVS, the task did look difficult but they managed to break through. Both the batsmen played well and managed to score showing class and a cool temperament as they played a key role in driving the team towards success.

Sangakkara and Co will now be facing India and New Zealand in the upcoming Micromax Cup. They can avenge this defeat by clinching the Cup, which will be quite an arduous task as India stands strong in the ICC one day team ratings. The Micromax cup kick starts on August 11 with India facing New Zealand in the first match.
