Indian actress Minissha Lamba struck in NY Hurricane Irene
Minissha Lamba who went for an Indian cultural programme in New York is now stranded there as not a single plane is coming or going out of the major airports due to bad weather. People have been advised to be in their homes.

MINISSHA LAMBA got a call asking her to cancel her trip to New York as the caller had a premonition. The actress did not pay heed to the caller’s words and now she is struck on the 22nd floor of Radisson Hotel, and has no way out of New York or Hurricane Irene. Hurricane Irene hit the US East Coast on Sunday, and bought with it immense loss of wealth.

Although the hurricane did less of a damage than expected but many people are still stranded in New York due to bad weather. Minissha Lamba, the Yahan actress, went to New York for an India-US cultural event, it's likely that will have to stay on till air services are restored after the storm blows over.

On Sunday morning, speaking from her hotel room, she said, “It's really scary out here. For 36 hours, the entire New York will have to stay indoors.

A state of emergency has been declared. Everyone is in their homes. As I look out of my hotel window, I see a deserted street down below. Can you imagine New York without traffic? It's like a scene out of Armageddon.”

However, while the Indian damsel is stranded for the time being, on Sunday, US airlines started limited service in their Washington-area airports. But Irene played havoc on the East Coast airport over the past three days. Thousands of flights were cancelled and by noon time on Saturday, all flights from major airports serving New York City, i.e. Kennedy, LaGuardia and Newark were suspended.

So far 16 deaths have been reported in six states with 5 fatal cases in North Carolina, 4 in Virginia, 3 in New Jersey, 2 in Florida and one each in Maryland and Connecticut. The damage done by the storm will result in weeks for life to return back to normal.
