Indian and Chinese cars are not favourite among Americans
According to a research report only 38 per cent of people in the United States are open to buying a Chinese, and 30 per cent an India made car.
THE UNITED States is not the potential market of the Indian and Chinese automobile industry. According to the report of Market research firm, GfK Automotive’s Barometer of Automotive Awareness and Imagery study, majority of US consumers are not like to buy a car from a Chinese or Indian manufacturer.
The Americans, who faced several recalls last year from major automobile makers including Toyota, Honda, and General Motors, etc., due to technical fault or other reasons, are widely known to buy a car of made by American manufacturers.
Barometer of Automotive Awareness and Imagery study also found that 95 per cent of Americans like to buy from an American company, whereas 76 per cent a German vehicle and 75 per cent from a Japanese manufacturer. Only 38 per cent of people in the United States expressed willingness to buy a Chinese and 30 per cent an Indian car.
The United States has three major car manufacturers including General Motors, the Ford Motor Company, and the Chrysler Corporation. Till 2008, GM was the world's largest automobile manufacturer; and even after deep recession, the company is still the largest automobile manufacturer in the country.
The report of the Barometer of Automotive Awareness and Imagery study is likely to be a matter of discussion for the Indian car makers including Tata, Mahindra as well as Chinese brands like BYD, Chery, who showed their intent in recent years to launch their products in the United States.
