Indian Cricket team announced for Sri Lanka tour
The Senior Selection Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India today announced Team India for the three test matches against Sri Lanka.
The All-India Senior Selection Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India today announced Team India for the three test matches against Sri Lanka starting on July 18, 2010. India is going to play three Test series and their first test match will be at Galle from July 18, followed by the remaining two matches - July 26-30 and August 3-7 - at Sinhalese Sports Club and PSS grounds, Colombo respectively.
Indian middle order batsman and part time all rounder Yuvraj Singh who was dropped in the recently concluded Asia Cup has been picked in the 16-member Test squad. Selectors failed to clarify the reason of dropping him from Asia Cup team and once again selecting him for Test squad.
The selectors managed to put smiles on the faces of the fans by selecting seasoned campaigners’ Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman, while dropping Wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik and his Tamil Nadu teammate S Bardrinath. Bengal's gloveman Wriddhiman Saha has also got selectors’ nod.
Selectors have chosen three seamers for the tour including lanky pacer Ishant Sharma and S. Sreesanth after a gap of year. It seems selectors are looking forward for World Cup 2011 preparation. India has only one strike bowler Zaheer Khan in the team. Spin department will be led by Harbhajan Singh and supported by Amit Mishra and Pragyan Ojha. Batting order has already got a strong line up with senior players in the squad. Suresh Raina has also been given the chance.
