Indian Menopause Society's zonal conference held in Gurgaon
The North Zone Conference of the Indian Menopause Society (IMS) Gurgaon Chapter was organised on November 9 and 10 in Gurgaon and coordinated by the chapter secretary Dr. Pushpa Sethi, informed Dr. Vandana Narula, one the participant as well as the presenter. The theme for the 2013 conference was ''Stabilise and Strengthen.''

IMS, a multi-disciplinary society was launched in 1995 and since then has grown into an active, vibrant organisation with 36 chapters across the country with more than 2000 life members from different specialties, informs the IMS website.

In his message for the conference Dr. Jyothi Unni, the office bearer of IMS said, ''I would urge all of you to help stabilize the health of mature women in our country and help strengthen them physically and emotionally so that they may face the coming years with equanimity. Women from all walks of life will then be 'Fit at Forty, Strong at Sixty and Independent at Eighty' as our Slogan encourages them to be!''

The conference concentrated on the issues of increasing Diabetes and Breast Cancer among women. The conference also urged the members of IMS to reach out to rural areas and initiate research activities to generate Indian data on several aspects of menopausal health.
