Indian National Congress - the remaining vestiges of a fallen tower
Song-Aur nahin bas aur nahin (Roti Kapda Aur Makaan) (1974) Singer-Mahendra Kapoor, Lyrics-Santosh Anand, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal.

"Aaur nahin bas aur nahin, gham ke pyaale aur nahin, dil mein jagah nahin baaqi, rok nazar apni saaqi, aur nahin bas aur nahin"

And today's headlines would predictably be on these lines:

The Martha political outfit engaged in bitter feud of supremacy against BJP has emerged as the single largest party in the cash-rich BMC winning 84 seats, closely trailed by BJP which bagged 82 seats in a total of 227 seats. The oldest national party Congress is relegated to the third position with 31 seats, followed by NCP with 9, MNS with 7, AIMIM with 3, SP with 6, Akhil Bharatiya Sena with 1 and others with 4.

It is now easy to envisage the new political scenario as BJP and Shiva Sena, after some initial noises of bitterness for public consumption would repeat the old Indian melody - 'Na na karke pyar, magar iqrar, tum heeen se kar baithe.'

Owaisi Saheb has a reason or two or three to smile as he is in 'Me Too" there. MNS and NCP have been reduced to damp squibs - 'Reductio ad absurdum.' There is no discomforting opposition in Maharshtra now like the centre.

What about the Congress Party?

I still believe that piggy-backing the SP, this grand old party would make some new inroads in UP. However, this would not be the game changer. Even the victory in Punjab won't make a difference in 2019 for Congress. You don't have to be a political Pundit to see the writing on the wall. 'The Nehru-Ganshi dynasty has ceased to wear the crown.' Rahul Gandhi is lacking the essential existential qualities of a great leader. He has failed to learn the lessons from history.

Discipline and Commitment are the necessary attributes of a great leader. Oratory is an added skill. All these three qualities are missing in him. He appears and disappears from the radar at the most critical moments - like his beard. His speeches never reflect any intellectual caliber and he never sticks upon any issue for long; he rarely bothers to bring about any agenda to its logical conclusion. I don't know if he has a real vision for India and if he has ever had one, he was never able to convince to the nation about it.

Priyanka Wadra Gandhi is another enigma for Congress Party and Indian Politics. She is intelligent and comports a smart personality that has some resemblance to her illustrious grandmother Indra Ji. Unfortunately, she appears in Raibareli and Amethi only and that also like a Cameo. She is not a full time politician and seems to have reluctantly vacated the space for her younger brother. Her husband has turned out to be a biggest liability for some real or apparent reasons. So far this Modi government has failed to put Wadra behind the bars but the allegations against him and apparent silence of his wife has reduced the clout of Priyanka. Public still respects her but care two hoots for what she says.

The great national party that was once the galaxy of brightest intellectual political stars with honesty, integrity, courage vision and acumen has become a club of spineless sycophants. It worries not only the people who are nostalgic about India National Congress but most of the secular Indians also.

None on the present leaders of Congress has courage to stand up and tell Sonia Ji that Rahul is not capable to lead the nation. He can still be a leader of Congress but only one of the leaders and not the supreme power. I feel there are still few young leaders in Congress who can salvage the party from extinction if Rahul Gandhi gives the way. Otherwise, Congress Party would be lost forever in the books of history.

So let's see how the Nehru Family can accept your current reality and align itself with the truth. It doesn't mean they have to like it as it is, but they have to accept it and recognize it. Denial and ignorance is not helping the Party and the nation. Congress is failing to bring an effective change where Narendra Modi is offering chance after chance to grab the opportunity. It was so simple to defeat and deflate a Jumla Sarkar but the Indian Opposition missed no opportunity to miss that opportunity. I will say – the Congress Party and other outfits are either complicit with RSS agenda or at the worse, highly inefficient in the game of politics.

Indian opposition is like a Parisian flaneur trying to find a house at Champs Elysees Boulevard while using a map of London. They simply can't get to where they want to be this way. Bottom of Form

The Congress party has received a real jolt in the Maharashtra. The reality is that after Prime Minister Nehru most of its leaders had efficiently plundered the nation for so many years and made merry on taxpayer's money. They have been fooling the minorities, especially Muslims with bare lip service. They have done nothing to alleviate their sufferings. They have robbed the Muslims of their language, of their culture and of their pride. The RSS won't have dared to pull down the Babri Masjid had the Kar Sevaks not received the tacit approval from some top Congress leaders.
