Srinivasa Varadhan is an Indian American Mathematician who was born in the year 1940 at Madras. He was awarded the National Medal of Science for his wonderful effort and work towards the probability theory and also his contribution in creating a theory for large deviation. It is not for the first time that he had received an award for the same contribution mentioned above, as he received an Abel prize in 2007 for it too. Apart from these, he has won several awards such as Birkhoff Prize, in the year 1994, Leroy Steele Prize (1996). The government of India has also recognized his work; hence, he was also awarded Padma Bhusan in 2008.
Rakesh Agarwal is a product of the famous institution of India, IIT Kanpur. He has been awarded the National Medal of Technology and Innovation as he played a very important role in reducing the cost of gas liquefaction and also in improving the energy efficiency. His contribution would be playing a major role in the future too.
Jayant Baliga is another product from IIT, in this case Chennai, from the 1969 batch, and had a very good academic record. He was born in Bangalore, India. He was awarded for his contribution in the field of development and commercialization of the insulated of Gate Bipolar Transistor and other semi-conductor devices. One of his other major achievements that can be mentioned is that he was included in the Scientific American Magazine as 'Eight Heroes of the Semiconductor Revolution'. Some of his other awards are 1999 IEEE Lamme Medal, 1993 IEEE Morris N. Liebmann Memorial Award in a list of many awards.
From the above contributions, we can make out that the US is benefiting a lot from Indian scientists, engineers, and inventors. It also has to be remembered that our fellow Indians are also making huge money in the US. It is no surprise, when we see that every year there are thousands and thousands of students who look to head to the US for better education. The US also welcomes them with open arms.
