With population skyrocketing every year, it is time to look at it from a different perspective. Population increase can work wonders for the development of the country if talent of our expanding population is used to the maximum extent.
OUR POPULATION can be an asset, as we know India is the second most populous country in the world. But why is it that we consider over-population as a curse and not as a boon.
Large population can be an asset as it means mixed talents, different mental set ups, which will subsequently lead to progress, fame and money. If we look at the fact that China is number one in terms of population but they have utilised their population in a positive manner and it shows they top the charts in every possible sphere. We have the largest human resource - their power can be utilized for development, education and in providing jobs to all.
Every official, planner, politician and most who occupy positions of influence say population is a liability, because they have failed to deliver on their promises and duties. If these people look into this as a resource and invest in terms of efforts, policies, financial allocations, partnerships with industry and private agencies and educational entrepreneurs and take bold initiatives - our population can be turned into an amazing asset.
India’s English-speaking technical and non-technical software professionals, NRI’s as well as those who are in the country facilitating exports of software is an example. One most important action to be initiated is to revamp our educational system into an HRD process, to convert ordinary people into extraordinary performers.
India can do it and can be a global power - economic, political, cultural and in the knowledge arena. This educational redesign and delivery are possible even without government support, if educationists want to affect it and the nation is in their heart. Let them empower and make youngsters competent and skillful. These youngsters will build the nation. Furthermore, the chaos, violence and sectarian conflicts, corruption, bureaucracy of blocking enterprise, lack of national pride, and divisiveness, etc., can also be addressed if principles and human values are integrated into the educational process.
Education can effect that change towards engineering and establishing an ethically strong, and an economically progressive nation can be built. Business and industry on the solid foundations of ethics and values. But a shift in the mindset is necessary.
