Indian Railways should regularly monitor health of its employees
The management of the Indian Railways should make sure that it takes due care of its employees, especially the drivers, guards and labourers. They work very hard and in the process, their health gets deteriorated. So the management should make sure that regular check-ups are held for such staff.
HEALTH ASPECT of different staff employed by the Indian Railways
should be monitored regularly through proper medical tests and examinations. Such a measure will bolster the confidence of staff, mainly the loco drivers and ticket checkers (also known as ticket collectors), guards, signal giving persons and so on.
This class of people works during many shifts. Their health needs to be monitored periodically and regularly. Untimely eating and untimately rest hours may impact their health badly. However, with regular medical check ups, whatever shortfall they may have would be taken care of.
Whenever there is a shortfall of staff due to absenteeism or leave or vacancy not filled up, the burden of doing more work puts this class of people under tremendous pressure, which has a direct fallout on their health.
Irrespective of the prevailing system, if modernised for the better, would bolster their confidence to give their best in the future. Railways may wish to take the help of professional experts/ consultative groups to modernise this scheme and they should go ahead with it. Ultimately, public at large would benefit from such efforts, refurbishing the image of the ailing railway network.
