Indian shuttler Kashyap scripts history, enters quarter finals
Shuttler Kashyap today scripted the history by becoming the first Indian sportsperson to reach the quarter-finals of the Olympic Games.

PARUPALLI KASHYAP, 27, secured 2-1 victory over Sri Lanka's Niluka Karunaratne at the Wembley Arena in London. The victory came with three-game score of 21-14, 15-21, and 21-9 in the pre-quarter final match that lasted 66 minutes.

Earlier, Indian female Saina Nehwal had become the first-ever Indian achieving the same feat in the Beijing Games four years ago.

It seems that the long-rallies in the match left Karunaratne gasping as in the end in the decider third game. Now Kashyap will play against the winner of the match between Indonesia's Simon Santoso and Lee Chong Wei of China.

"KASHYAP on his day is a World Champ! Congrats KASHYAP! Congrats Coach GOPI! We are proud of both of your wards Saina & KASHYAP!" Sports Minister Ajay Maken thus congratulated Kashyap on Twitter.
