Indian sportswomen who created history at Rio Olympics lauded by sports minister
Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports (I/C), Vijay Goel praised the exemplary performance by three woman players PV Sindhu, Sakshi Malik and Deepa Karmakar at Rio Olympics and congratulated them.

Goel said that Malik, Karmakar and Sindhu had scaled new heights in their careers at Rio Olympics and shown to the world the real capability and exemplary courage of the daughters of India.

He also congratulated Sindhu's coach P. Gopichand and her parents for the player's historic success at the Olympics.

In a statement the minister said that PV Sindhu's exemplary success to win Silver medal at this young age in Olympics is the result of her hard work, dedication and perseverance.

Goel also said that the credit for this success goes to her parents too, who had always stood by PV Sindhu and devoted their entire time and energy to make Sindhu realize her dreams.

He stated that Sindhu went down contesting valiantly to world number one and two-time world champion Carolina Marin of Spain and added that her efforts to bring glory to the country in an individual event were laudable.

Woman player's creditworthy performance would inspire younger generations in  future. He hoped and informed that the sports ministry would shortly launch preparations for Tokyo Olympics 2020 in the right earnest.
