Indian voters are intelligent enough to decide their next government
The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) three-day national executive committee meet, and the national council was to formally install Rajnath Singh as its national president, discuss the preparations for assembly elections to be held later this year in many states, and galvanize workers for the Lok Sabha elections scheduled in 2014. But, it seemed that the meet was convened to project Narendra Modi as BJP's prime ministerial candidate.

The big industrialists are anxious to see Modi as the prime minister. Similar is the case with news channels and the supporters of the Gujarat chief minister. Vijay Goyal, while addressing the executive meeting, said: “It looks as if Narendra Modi is PM instead of Dr. Manmohan Singh.” Most of the senior leaders of BJP have already declared Modi as the next prime minister, but some of the leaders are not ready to fall in line with the decision.

In fact, there are two groups in the BJP, and this was the reason that Rajnath Singh had to issue directions not to name anyone for the PM post for the time being. But, he himself repeated the name of Modi during his address while appreciating the chief ministers of MP and Chhattisgarh.

When the national president is openly appreciating Modi, how could the workers lag behind? Even, one news channel reported that during his 55-minute address, the audience clapped for Modi 50 times. This is the reason that he is the popular leader of the party now and he is well aware of these facts. After accepting the appreciation, he talked about bringing the BJP back to power, in a very philosophical manner, and at the end started accusing the Congress. In fact, Modi tried to establish himself as best national level leader but it would not be wrong to say that his entire address was childish.

Modi described the Congress rule like a pest and BJP as its medicine. By saying this, he has insulted the democratic system under which the people of India have on two occasions brought Congress-led UPA into power and BJP-led NDA in the opposition.

He did not even maintain the grace of the post of President of India by saying that ‘had Pranab Mukherjee been the prime minister, it would have been better for the nation’. Dragging the name of President in the marshland of politics is against the ethics of politics which Modi should understand.

While giving the example of Gujarat, he said “we have run PSUs with corporate culture” but he did not remember that institutions like Balco and Modern Bread were established during NDA rule, while Bhilai Ispat, BHEL and SAIL like private institutions came into existence during the Congress period.

It is an admitted fact that whenever there had been any weaknesses in the Congress, the people had given chance to the BJP. Simultaneously, there had been changes in the states also as every party has its own positives and negatives, which are analyzed very intelligently by the people. The Talkatora stadium might have echoed with the clapping for Modi’s bigger role, but the public will definitely vote after analyzing the pros and cons.
