Indian wrestlers will win around 07 gold medals in 2014 CWG Glasgow: VP, Wrestling Federation of India
India has started the 2014 Commonwealth Games in bright fashion, winning a number of medals in various events. India is expected to win a number of medals in events such as shooting, athletics, badminton, boxing, judo and India has always been a major force in wrestling, where they stand a great chance in winning the highest number of medals.

India won an impressive 19 medals in the last 2010 CWG in India, but it would not be fair to expect the same number of medals from the Indian contingent in Glasgow. There were two different styles in the 2010 CWG – Freestyle and Greco-Roman, but Glasgow would only witness freestyle.

''In the last 2010 CWG, India won eight gold medals in Greco Roman,'' said Asit Shah, Vice President, Wrestling Federation of India. When asked as to the reason for Greco-Roman style not being included, he had no clue about the exclusion.

Still, Wrestling remains to be India's good bet in Glasgow. Saha said, ''Out of the total eight categories, Indian men will surely win four to five gold medals along with other medals.'' It is not only in the men's category, but also the women's category, where India could produce medals. '' Indian women will win one or two gold medals in the event,'' said Saha. Six Indian women will participate in the event.

Amongst the men, India would be eying on their two superstars, Yogeshwar Dutt and Sushil Kumar to bring home glory. These two wrestlers won medals in London Olympics. The Federation has high hopes from the two.

Saha with a tome of confidence in his voice said, ''Sushil, Yogeshwar and Amit Kumar are probably going to win gold medals for India.'' While the rest of the five wrestlers are also expected to shine and bring name and fame to themselves, not only the nation.

There is reason for India to be optimistic as well, as the Indian wrestlers have undergone good training in the US as well and back home in India, they have worked rigorously, hoping to win a medal. India, with their rich history in the event are a big name in Commonwealth wrestling and are considered favourites to win medals. Saha said, ''May be Canada and England may be able to give India a fight.''
