India's Test record against England
India and England will be playing their 100th Test match on July 21. Out of the 99 Test matches played between them till date, India has won 19 of them, England has won 34 and 46 of these matches were drawn.

THE LAST Test match played between England and India was in the year 2008 at Mohali, India, which resulted in a draw. India has come a long way in a short span of 3 years as they have attained the top Test ranking in the ICC rankings. They will play the 100th Test match between Indian and England on July 21.

These two teams have played 99 Test matches in between them, till date. India has only won 19 out of these 99 Test matches, whereas England has won 34 of them. There were 46 matches drawn too. A look at the statistics indicates that England has dominated India in a very easy manner. But, England has won most of its matches; which was played between 1932 to 1985 or so. But the Indian team in the modern era has been a competitive outfit. The last time the Indian team lost against England was in Mumbai in 2006 by a massive margin of 212 runs. After which India has managed to win two Test matches and drawn 3 Test matches against England.

The Test matches record of matches played in England reflects a very sorry tale for India as they have only won 5 Test matches till date and the English have won 23 times, with 20 draws in between them. Since 2007, these two teams have played 7 Test matches in England. England has only defeated India at Lord’s once, and India have won twice at Leeds and Trent Bridge. Four of these matches resulted in a draw. These stats would be a pleasing to the Indian team.

Neither team can play according to past records, as the team that plays consistent cricket for 5 days is going to win the Test match. Irrespective of the records, this series would surely be an interesting one as India have proved to be the best team in alien conditions too. So, if they win the Test series against England, it could make India as the most dominant force in World Cricket for the next few years.
