India's tour to SL will help India's preparation for T20 World Cup
India is set to tour Sri Lanka from July 21 to August 7 for 5 ODIs and a T20 match. This series could be best used by the Indian team as a preparatory series for the T20 World Cup, which will take place in Sri Lanka itself.

AFTER IPL 2012, Indian cricketers have not played any form of competitive cricket. Hence, they were enjoying a long break with their family members, and friends, etc. But, they are back into the scheme of things and need to focus on a competitive schedule, which lies ahead. Their first test would be the Sri Lankan tour, where they are going to play 5 ODIs and a T20 match starting from July 21 and ending on August 7.

AP has reported that the Indian captain believes this tour of Sri Lanka would help the Indian team in preparing for the upcoming T20 world cup. The selection committee has selected the best possible team for the series. MS Dhoni will lead the side and Virat Kohli would be his deputy during the tour. There are no surprises in the squad. It was the best possible team that one could think of.

The series is going to be an important one for players such as Manoj Tiwary, Ashok Dinda, Rohit Sharma, and A. Rahane with the T20 world Cup coming up in the same country. A solid performance in the series might also help these players in sealing a berth for the T20 World Cup. So these players have much to play for. All the above mentioned players have been performing consistently in the shortest format of the game, and more recently in the IPL. But, if they are to be looked upon as serious contenders for the national side, they need to be more consistent and not take things for granted. There are many other players who are waiting in the wings to play for India.

The Indian team should play this series as a preparatory series for the T20 world Cup, which is just a few months away. The Indian team knows about the conditions that would exist during the time, but they can use this opportunity to lookout for players who can handle the Sri Lankan conditions well enough. They can even think about experimenting with the batting line up or the bowling too. They can find out their best possible line up for the T20 world cup.
