Along with our Oceansat-2, as many as six nano satellites of Europe, weighing one kg each, were also launched from Sriharikota Space Centre. Indeed ISRO is a potential giant in the space and will, in due course of time, become a money spinner.
The inflow of currency from Europe and other cash rich but bereft of space technology countries will help us ameliorate the hard conditions of life in rural India. ISRO should be encouraged to go full speed ahead in space and bring laurels to the country. of course, some setbacks like pre-schedule end of the Chandryaan mission should be taken in the normal stride of life. Success and failure are two sides of the coin that we need to run day-to-day life.
The design life of our present Oceansat-2 is expected to be five years. It may live longer like its predecessor Oceansat-1 that had been launched in 1999 and was in service for an additional period.
The satellite will be of immense help to our ships of the Merchant Navy giving them information relating to sea that they sail on. Approaching typhoons and other natural calamities will be communicated in advance to our fishermen too. Thus, a loss of life and property on high seas and our coastal areas could be prevented.
