ICC Cricket World Cup 2015
India's victory over Pakistan in World Cup will give them confidence going forward
It is a well-known fact that during any given encounter of arch rivals India and Pakistan, the level of thrill and excitement generated certainly makes it a memorable event. This is what was precisely seen in Adelaide on yesterday where Team India registered a crucial and confortable victory over Pakistan.

The mood and tempo of the supporters, who had come with banners, posters and in colorful attire, created the momentum. The excitement of the supporters who turned out in a large number justifies the claim that perhaps this might prove to be one of the most watched matches of the World Cup 2015.

It appears that more than the need to move forward in the ladder to cement their position, it became imperative for India to win this psychological war. But, it will provide a great relief to the millions of the fans that at last our bowlers have successfully delivered.

Although the scope of constant improvement is always there, but by and far, the comeback by the bowlers will enhance their confidence level and pave way for the gen-next to perform on the bouncy tracks away. The ability to utilize the skill of seam and swing proved handy.

In the beginning it looked that the fight was not very easy for Team India. After losing Rohit Sharma early, Team India did manage to establish a record partnership of 129 runs between Kohli and Dhawan for the second wicket which eased the pressure to some extent. Thereafter, Dhawan got out for 73 runs. Suresh Raina came in to join Kohli and at first it was felt that given the chances of run out and catches, their rhythm was missing. But displaying sensible batting, Kohli and Raina held the innings together.

At that time, the commentators were saying that anything less than 350 will not be safe for team India but there were many, including BBC, that were of the opinion that a figure of 380 is required to secure a victory. But sensing the gravity of the situation, Virat Kohli did manage to score his 100 and apparently this achievement also encouraged Raina to accelerate his personal run rate.

After a while, when Kohli went back at his individual score of 107, Raina tried hard to keep the momentum going. After Raina's departure, Team India collapsed and despite their best efforts, the final score remained not even competitive at 300 for 7.

Obviously, Pakistan looked pretty comfortable as the given target looked achievable but then they lost an early wicket. Also during the early overs, the Indian bowlers could not reflect any edge and the match was seen tilting towards Pakistan. But then the wickets started falling after as the Indians fought it hard and displayed few excellent pieces of fielding, especially the catch taken by Kohli.

Owing to the constant pressure put in by the Indian bowlers, Pakistani wickets started falling at frequent intervals. But then the turning point in favor of India accrued when captain Dhoni instantly demanded review of a decision of a caught behind appeal against Maqsood, which was given in the favor of India.

Thereafter, Shahid Afridi tried hard to balance the match along with Misbah-ul-Haq at the other end but by that time the Indian bowlers had gained back their rhythm and confidence and the bowling became visibly effective with a few maiden overs. This resulted in enhanced pressure on Pakistan that earlier looked confident of its smooth victory.

In the end, Team India emerged victorious and this remarkable victory will give them a confidence going forward in the ICC World Cup 2015.
