The wait is finally over. Everyone has been wondering who would win the Indy 500 and now the results are out. So who won the Indianapolis 500? Dario Franchitti is the winner of the Indy 500. He beat Dan Wheldon and helped Chip Canassi become the first car owner to win at Indy and also the Daytona 500 in the same year.

Daria Franchitti, the winner of indy 500 deserved to win. His Sunday victory was his 2nd at the Indy 500 in 4 years. He denied favorite, Helio Castroneves a chance to become the fourth driver to win a record four times at Brickyard.
 
Castroneves could have won the race, as he was running in the top 3 until he stalled coming out of a pit stop on the the 145th lap of the race. He finished on the 9th place as none of Roger Penske's driver came across in the top 7.

 
Tony Kanaan, who started in the 33rd position and rose as high as second, finished 11th as had to pit for splash of fuel with 4 laps to go.
