DIG of BSF, OP Tanwar was killed in an IED blast executed by ultras from Pakistani territory on Monday morning. Tanwar had come to the post to take stock of the situation after heavy firing was reported between security personnel and militants.
A SENIOR Border Security Force official was killed on the international border in Ramgarh sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday morning at 9 am (November 16). Reports said deputy inspector general of BSF OP Tanwar was killed in an (Improvised Explosive Devise) IED blast executed by ultras from Pakistani territory.
The BSF DIG had come to the post to take stock of the situation after heavy firing was reported between security personnel and militants last night. The militants were trying to infiltrate into the Indian side taking cover of the heavy gunfire. It, however, appears that firing was a ruse to trap senior BSF personnel as they normally visit the posts, if there is any unusual activity on the border. In this case, the infiltrators managed to hide an IED on the Indian side and soon as DIG Tanwar reached the spot, the carried out the explosion killing him, as per preliminary information.
