IN A major setback to the Indian team defending the T20 title in England, top batsman Virender Sehwag is likely to be ruled out of the rest of the World Cup due to his shoulder injury.
Just ahead of India's match against Ireland in Nottingham on Wednesday (June 10), sources said that veteran opener's shoulder injury could force him to miss the match and rest of the tournament.
An official announcement is likely to be made by the team management on Tuesday (June 9).
Sehwag is likely to return home and will have to undergo shoulder surgery to recover from the injury, added sources.
Earlier, Sehwag had missed India's match against Bangladesh due to pain in his shoulder. He is reported to have picked the injury during the Indian Premier League tournament held in South Africa.
The dashing Indian opener had missed practice on Monday (June 8) and was not able to bat much on Tuesday as well.
Reports of rift in the Indian team had made the rounds after Sehwag was forced to sit out of the warm up matches. It was being rumoured that skipper Dhoni and the veteran Indian batsmen had a tiff over some issue.
To put an end to this speculation, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was forced to parade the entire India team during a press conference.
.I think team india chances of winning world cup is becomes almost dry becoz sehwag is one of the top-most players in t-20 format. but still i have hope that we have to retain the title
