In a meeting called on November 20, Gurgaon joint police commissioner, Manjit Singh Ahlawat called a meeting of all the bankers and gave directions to install CCTV cameras within three days or face action as per law.
GURGAON ADMINISTRATION has asked all the banks in the district to install close circuit TV cameras (CCTV) to ensure a check on the activities of anti-social elements. In fact, during a meeting at mini secretariat on Thursday (November 20), a senior police official warned bankers to install the cameras or else face action.

In a meeting called on Thursday (November 20), Gurgaon joint police commissioner, Manjit Singh Ahlawat called a meeting of all the bankers and gave directions to install CCTV cameras within three days otherwise they will have to face action as per law.

The meeting was organised in mini secretariat and presided over by the joint police commissioner. While referring to the orders passed by the district magistrate, Deepti Umashankar under Section 144 of CrPC, Ahlawat said that even after two months of passing these orders very few banks have adhered to it and majority of the banks have not installed the CCTV cameras.

He warned the bankers that they will have to face serious consequences for this laxity on their part. At the same time, Ahlawat gave the bankers three days time to install these cameras and said that after this the police officials of concerned police stations would be checking the bank premises.

Ahlawat advised the bankers to install CCTV cameras at crucial points in the bank as well as in ATM so that the movement of anti-social elements can be tracked. He said that cash in ATMs should be put in at different timings to avoid any mishap.

He also asked them to request for a police guard while transferring heavy cash and also to report about suspicious persons wandering near the bank premises. He told the bank officials that if any police personal did not perform his duty in the right manner, they should send a complaint and action will be initiated against the erring official.
