Goa is well known all over the world as a tourist destination and could perhaps be one of the major arbitration centers in the world if right infrastructure is created and experts appointed as arbitrators, said Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily.
GOA IS well known all over the world as a tourist destination and could perhaps be one of the major arbitration centers in the world if right infrastructure is created and experts appointed as arbitrators, said Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily. Moily inaugurated the international arbitration center in Panaji on Monday (January 24), in the presence of Chief Minister Digambar Kamat and other dignitaries.
The center was formally inaugurated by Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily at Hotel Mandovi in Panjim in the presence of Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, State Law Commission Chairman Ramakant Khalap, senior advocate Surendra Dessai, Dr Ashok Patil, advocate Cleofato Coutinho and advocate Mario Pinto Almeida.
Dr Moily said that Goa was already a well known place in the world. If tourists get attracted to this place, then obviously the people seeking arbitration would get attracted. He further said that the idea was to make the country a major center of arbitration.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Digambar Kamat said that the International Arbitration Centre would be very helpful in every aspect and thanked State Law Commission chairman, advocate Ramakant Khalap and his colleagues for the great initiative.
