International Space Station: NASA celebrates continuous 15 years of human presence in space
NASA celebrated, on November 2, the continuous human presences at International Space Station (ISS) with six cosmonauts living at it presently. These fifteen years also complete the 15-nation partnership that has built the most expensive laboratory complex in space.

Various expeditions to ISS have included both male and female crew-members from many nations.

The ISS has been continuously occupied all these years due to the addition of new 'home improvement facilities' that improved its crew capacity from three to six. Meanwhile NASA is intending developing a new spacecraft that will be able to ferry astronauts to the moon and the space station both.

It may be recalled that the core module of the ISS was launched in 1998 and currently it is divided into two main sections called  orbital and operational segments.

It has the pressurized modules, external trusses, solar arrays and other components. ISS components, equipment and supplies have been made by Russian Proton and Soyuz rockets as well as American Space Shuttles.

ISS is orbiting the earth at an altitude of between 330 and 435 km to complete 15.54 orbits per day. Recently, on September 30 this year the contract of Boeing with NASA as prime contractor related structural hardware for the ISS was extended to 2020
