International Women's Day 2018: Prime Minister Modi to launch pan-India expansion of 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao'
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan on 8th March, the International Women's Day, to inaugurate the pan-India expansion of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) programme up from the existing 161 districts to 640 districts all over the country, stated an official release.

He will be interact with beneficiary mothers and girl children of the program and distribute certificates to best performing districts under BBBP program.

Also, he will launch the National Nutrition Mission (NNM) - ICDS Common Application Software to monitor to reduce under-nutrition and low birth weight; bring down anaemia among young children, women and adolescent girls; and reduce the prevalence of stunting among children, it added.

PM Modi will also honour the administrations of Sikar and Jhunjhunu for improving the sex ratio. Before the start of the campaign, the sex ratio had been alarming in Sikar with only 848 females for 1,000 males.

Sikar District Collector Naresh Thakral said, "After innovative steps taken under the campaign, the sex ratio was registered at 930 females over 1,000 males."

The mission Beti Bachao Beti Padhao strives to bring down under-nutrition, prevent low birth weight and lower the occurrence of anaemia among girls.
