EVERY APPLE fan is happy that the iOS 4 update is finally here and they can all upgrade their iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch second and third generation.
Many of you may still be wondering how to update? Well, here is a five step procedure:
1. Get the latest version of iTunes installed on your system from Apple’s site. Unless it is the latest iTunes 9.2, iOS 4 won’t work. Skip this step if you already have updated your iTunes earlier.
2. After installing connect your iPhone/iPod Touch to your computer as you do for everyday syncing. Once you connect it, the iTunes should launch automatically. If it doesn’t, you need to manually launch iTunes.3. As the iTunes window opens, find your device there. Now click on the device to display the summery page. You will find a button for check for update, but don’t click that now.4. Make sure you have backed up all your data of your device. It can be done by right-clicking the device icon in iTunes left bar. An option of back up will appear. Click and back up your data.5. Now, click on the Check for Update button from the device summary page. If the device attached by you is compatible with the iOS 4, iTunes will tell you that an update is available and ask you to install. Click on Download and Install. Once the download starts you should not disconnect the device. It can be a long process and you may have to wait for long to get the iOS 4 installed on your device. But just be patient and do not disconnect your device unless the process is finished.
