iPhone 6s base model will have 32 GB internal storage
Apple is reportedly going to launch the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s plus in September. As per sources of MICGadget, Apple has decided to do away with 16 GB internal storage in the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s plus. Unnamed sources of MICGadget, who work at Foxconn, Apple's Taiwan-based manufacturing unit revealed, that the product packaging of the new iPhone 6s and 6s plus, only had stickers of 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB.

Last month, The Korea Times had reported that Apple was negotiating a deal with Samsung for supply of high capacity memory chips for the iPhone 6s and 6s plus. The currently available iPhone 6 uses NAND chips, which are supplied by Toshiba, SanDisk and SK hynix, since a deal with Samsung did not go through, as the latter quoted a higher price.

There has been a new trend emerging in the smart phone industry, where device manufacturers are avoiding the use of microSD cards in devices. Samsung has launched its new Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge, with an internal memory of 32 GB, but without microSD support. This is probably one of the reasons, Apple wants to adopt this trend as well.

Another major reason behind Apple going for a higher internal memory in the iPhone 6s and 6s plus is that the iOS 8 consumes 20% of the internal memory, and if the phone has 16 GB, then it leaves less than 13 GB for Apps, Videos and Images. So far Apple has been managing with less internal memory due to the availability of the iCloud services, which provide sufficient space for storing data.

It is expected that the new iPhone 6s will have an A9 processor, 14 megapixel camera with 4K video recording, Force Touch, 2GB RAM, NFC and a much faster LTE modem. As per a leaked email from Vodafone via Mobile News, Apple will begin pre-orders of the iPhone 6s and 6s plus on 18th September, and shippings will begin by 25th September.
